Dear Parents / Caregivers

The PTA needs your help – WHY?

While St Catherine’s College receives funding from the Ministry of Education and its Proprietor (the Sisters of Mercy) this only covers the basics. To provide a high-quality learning environment and opportunities for our students the school needs to raise extra funds. This is particularly important this year given we have opted into the Government’s Donation Scheme for decile 1-7 schools. This means the school receives an extra $150 of funding for each student but it is no longer able to ask for curriculum related donations.

How do we raise funds?

The PTA raises funds through our annual request to all whanau for a financial donation to the PTA. We also raise funds through fundraising events, such as last year’s Gala Auction, which raised $15,000.

What happens to money raised by the PTA?

It goes straight back to St Catherine’s. Last year the PTA helped fund the new data projector in the hall as well as new chrome books.

This year the PTA will fund new volleyball equipment worth $2,500, a digital keyboard worth $3,000, a laser cutter worth $5,500 and library furniture worth $3,000.
