Priest performs musical tribute in St Catherine’s fundraiser

Father Chris Skinner will sing a new song he wrote in honour of the elderly UK Covid-19 activist Captain Tom Moore, when he performs at a concert in Wellington later this month to raise funds for St Catherine’s College.

Captain Moore made headlines around the world last year as he pushed his walking frame around his back garden, raising millions of dollars for health care workers. He died of Covid-19 in February, aged 100. Fr Skinner wrote ‘More of You (Tribute to Captain Tom Moore)’ which is released on his new album Light in the Lockdown.

Ordained a priest in the Society of Mary (also known as the Marist Order) in 1985, Chris Skinner has been writing songs since he was 16 and has released 20 albums since 1990. He works with students at the Marist Seminary in Auckland and has won awards for both his singing and songwriting.
