SCC BOT Update

14th May 2021

Kia ora koutou

Last term we let you know about the two vacancies on the Board of Trustees, which the Board wished to fill by way of a selection process. The selection process was viewed as way for us to achieve greater diversity on the Board, so that a greater range of voices and experiences can contribute to our decision-making.

So I am now delighted to announce, and welcome to the Board, our two new reps, Ina Sola and Stephanie Kuttner. Thank you so much to Ina and Stephanie. You can read more about Ina and Stephanie below and the awesome skills and experiences they bring to the Board.

Board Chair

Ina Sola

I am a young Samoan woman with roots in Saint Catherine's College as an old girl of this beautiful big-little school. I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to become a member of the Board this year, especially returning to represent a Pasifika diaspora. My hopes in this role are; to build a Pasifika culture in SCC both with students and their communities, as well as focusing on their achievement goals as learners, Pasifika women, communicating the values of this Catholic school to the Pasifika community, and most importantly honoring the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi. I graduated from Saint Catherine's College in 2016 and a recent graduate from Victoria University (2020), now I am currently studying full-time towards a Master of Intercultural Communication and Applied Translation. Alongside this communication pedagogy, I also work full-time as a Secondary Tertiary Advisor at Te Aho O Te Kura Pounamu Correspondence. I will always cherish my big-little school Hata Kataraina.

Tēnā koutou

My name is Stephanie Kuttner and I’m delighted and excited for the opportunity to join the SCC Board of Trustees. I’m the proud Mum of Ava Saulbrey in Year 11 at St Cath’s. My partner Luke and I also have a younger son Joe who is Yr 9 this year and we live locally in Strathmore on beautiful Motu Kairangi.

Originally from Tāmaki Makaurau, I attended Marist Sisters College (now Marist College) in Mt Albert. On attending the St Cath’s Open Day a few years back, both Ava and I felt incredibly welcomed by the staff and students who created a personable, and warm, supportive environment. We've been loyal advocates of the school ever since!

I’m currently working as the Marketing & Communications Manager at Outward Bound New Zealand and previously I was in the same role at Scots College in Strathmore. In taking on this role I very much hope to support the College, students and whānau to further promote and elevate the awareness of our wonderful College.
