SCC Library Refurbishment & Virtual Careers Expo
Library Refurbishment
Libraries everywhere are constantly striving to engage young people and ours is no exception! In recent months and with the assistance of our PTA, we have made several changes that have made the space more user-friendly. Firstly, we created a hub at the back of the library by reconfiguring several sofas into a small group space. This then freed up our alcoves with their expansive views out to Evans Bay and Cook Strait and allowed us to create a couple of beautiful, quiet study spaces that take advantage of the views, but which also afford some privacy.
The furniture we chose for the alcoves consisted of bar-style tables and stools, made by Cintesi, a New Zealand company based in Tauranga. It is stylish and hard-wearing, and the girls have commented very favourably. We’d like to thank the PTA for their generous support with purchasing this furniture –it has made a real difference.
We are hoping to keep working on updating the library, but this has been a start that has been much welcomed by the girls.
